When we become needy, God makes Himself known to us.
NEEDY:being in want : poverty-stricken <needy families> 2 : marked by want of affection, attention, or emotional support needy> — need·i·ness noun.
Notice the definition said poverty-stricken, marked by a want of affection, attention, or emotional support. I am sure most of us may think I am not poverty-stricken, and we may start to downplay right now our neediness of the Lord. We are all poverty-stricken. We may not all be in poverty per say as to finances or to food but we all have some form of poverty in us. We cannot have all of our needs met apart from Jesus Christ. We need Jesus to provide for us. Attempting to satisfy our needs ourselves or through depending on others to satisfy us will always come up short, and leave us empty.
These two scriptures can bring reassurance and trust in God to know He will meet ALL of our needs but we must first seek Him.
Philippians 4:19 And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.
Matthew 6:33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
A dear friend of mine once told me she wished she wasn’t such a needy friend. My response to her was, “I am thankful your needy, because we both need Jesus and that is why we are friends.” I told her, “If we didn’t need Jesus we wouldn’t be friends because we wouldn’t need our friendship either.”
In my own walk with Jesus I have never felt closer to Him, than when I surrender and realize yet again my need for Him. We need His love and mercy and grace to live each minute here on this earth. We need to be filled up with His patience, and peace, and joy to walk with others. We need to first seek His kingdom and His will for us to be able to be victorious in our daily life.
Have you realized your need for Jesus today or are you like me and have to be reminded being needy is good? Lord please help us to become aware of our need of You, before an emergency in our lives takes place, before the job loss, or a loved one dies. Lord help us to be needy of You in every part of our life. Jesus help us look to you alone to supply all of our needs anything else will always fall short. God help us to trust you when we can’t see, when we are scared, when we are hurt, and when we are good. God I need you today, right now to supply my every need. Help us to seek your kingdom first let every other means we seek falter. Thank you Jesus for your faithfulness in Jesus name amen.
Psalm 34:17-18 The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.
