Today is day nineteen in the Love Dare book Love is impossible. Today is the most important day of this entire journey. Today we are to ask God where we stand with Him? We are to settle our eternal destination.
What does that mean? It means if you were to die today, do you know where you would go? The options we have to pick from are two different places one is heaven and the other is hell, and both are very real places. You may wonder why I said we get to pick, well because we do get to pick. Our eternal destiny is our choice. Nobody else gets to make this choice for us not even our creator God. He is so good He has given us our own free will to choose heaven or hell.
Heaven is where believers in Jesus Christ go after their earthly bodies die. They reign in heaven with God for all of eternity. In heaven all pain, hurt, sorrow and shame are gone and instead joy, peace, love, and glory abound.
Hell is a place where people go who choose not to accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and savior. Their souls are damned to eternal damnation in hell with Satan. Here there is unending pain and torture, the bible calls it weeping and gnashing of teeth.
Matthew 13:36-46 (NIV)
The Parable of the Weeds Explained
36 Then he left the crowd and went into the house. His disciples came to him and said, “Explain to us the parable of the weeds in the field.”
37 He answered, “The one who sowed the good seed is the Son of Man. 38 The field is the world, and the good seed stands for the people of the kingdom. The weeds are the people of the evil one, 39 and the enemy who sows them is the devil. The harvest is the end of the age, and the harvesters are angels.
40 “As the weeds are pulled up and burned in the fire, so it will be at the end of the age. 41 The Son of Man will send out his angels, and they will weed out of his kingdom everything that causes sin and all who do evil. 42 They will throw them into the blazing furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. 43 Then the righteous will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Whoever has ears, let them hear.
The Parables of the Hidden Treasure and the Pearl
44 “The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field.
45 “Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls. 46 When he found one of great value, he went away and sold everything he had and bought it.
We are all created to want to receive and give love. We all possess a deep longing within us for love. We search and search trying to fulfill the longing, the hole, the thought that something is missing. We can search our whole lives and travel all over the world and never find love. There is only one place we can find love and that is God, Jesus Christ.
1 John 4:8 (NIV) says: Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.
This truth applies to you and to me, this truth applies to everyone. If you have asked yourself the question, “Have I ever loved them?” The real question you should be asking is, “Is Jesus Christ the Lord of my life?” Because if you haven’t accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior, then the answer is, no you aren’t capable of loving another person because God who is love, is not in you.
Have you asked yourself the question, “Have they ever loved me?” The question you should be asking is, “Do they have Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior?” If they don’t, then they are not capable of loving you they don’t have love in them. So today if you find yourself in either situation the answer is the same, Jesus Christ has to be in your heart to give love or receive it.
Right now you have heard the truth not because I said it, but because the Bible is the truth. You are given the choice today to secure your eternal destination, are you willing? If there is even a sliver of doubt on where you would go if you died today, then choose right now, choose Jesus to be the Lord of your life.
The Bible says if you believe in your heart and confess with your mouth that Jesus died on the cross for your sins and rose again you are saved. Pray and confess your sins to God. Ask God to forgive you and invite Him into your heart to be your Lord and Savior.
Romans 10:9 (NIV) says: If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
My prayer for all of us is that we will get right with God today. We aren’t guaranteed another minute. One thing is for sure we are all dying, how many more minutes do we have left on this earth, do you know? I don’t. But I do know that our time here is ticking away minute by minute so choose this day whom you will serve.
