Today is day twenty- seven in the Love dare book, love encourages. Let’s examine what encouragement is. Encouragement is the action of giving someone support, confidence, or hope.
We actually have power within our words to give someone confidence and hope. It is amazing that our words written or spoken can truly transform another person. Words like anything really, can be used for good or bad, used to build up or tear down. Rarely, do we really understand and truly grasp the weight of our own words.
Let us look at ourselves first. Go to a place right now where you can see yourself in a mirror and look at yourself. Smile. Tell yourself you are beautiful. Tell yourself you are perfect in God’s eyes. Tell yourself you are forgiven ,worthy of love, needed and honored. Tell yourself there is nothing wrong with you , nothing needs to be fixed or changed you were created for a purpose, you have meaning and value. Tell yourself you are a daughter or son of the King. Tell yourself, I love you.
Did you do it? Was it hard? Was it powerful? Words have the power to breathe life into us and others or death. It’s our choice.
Proverbs 18:21 (NIV)
The tongue has the power of life and death,
and those who love it will eat its fruit.
What words have you been speaking to yourself? If we have been speaking lies and hurtful words over ourselves and condemning our own body, how well do you think our words will encourage others? We can only pour out of us what has been poured in. Lets start speaking encouragement to ourselves so that we can truly be an encouragement to others.
Luke 6:45 (NIV)
A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.
In my own life I am guilty of using my tongue and my words to discourage myself and others. Today my hope for us is we will recognize our tongue, and our speech is a gift and we need to use this gift to encourage ourselves and others as it was fully intended to do. Let us give hope to others and quit giving the enemy the slightest sliver of a crack to discourage us and others anymore. Today lets believe the truth about who God created us to be and walk in freedom, enjoy hope and have confidence in knowing you are loved by the creator Himself. He delights in all of you, He adores you. Be encouraged today, now go and encourage others.
